Dance Classes

Gainesville Ballet Company is a top-quality classical ballet training studio that offers instruction in a variety of dance genres, including jazz, hip-hop, tap, and more, in addition to ballet for dancers ages 3 to adult. Additional classes may be added to the schedule throughout the year. 

Pre-Ballet students will be placed into Pre-Ballet I, II, or III based on their age on September 1st. New dancers over 8 should contact the studio regarding the most appropriate level to register. Class placement is based on prior training and skill level.  All dancers ages 3 to 18 will have the opportunity to participate in the May dance recital.

We also offer Adult Dance Classes for beginners and intermediates; please check the schedule for current offerings. Adult classes use a punch card system. Students can purchase Class Punch Cards at the GBC Portal or studio.

Pre-ballet and Intermediate students are responsible for Costume and Recital fees and monthly tuition; see fee schedule.

Junior-level through Company I level students are responsible for Company Dues and monthly tuition; see company contract.

CLASS LEVELS

Company I, our most experienced high school dance students, select Brenau University dance majors and professionals. Many of these dancers go on to audition and work for other professional companies nationwide. We are proud to provide a training ground for aspiring professional dancers by offering opportunities for them to perform well-known roles through performances.

Trainee dancers are newly promoted Apprentices preparing for the move to Company I. Trainees also have the opportunity to participate in pointe variations and other more challenging offerings throughout the year. They are cast in all company productions.  

Apprentice dancers are freshly promoted from the Junior Company. Throughout the year, they can participate in pointe variations and unique offerings by guest faculty and choreographers. They are cast in all company productions.

Junior Company consists of dancers who have completed their intermediate-level classes. Their training will prepare them for their journey through the ranks from Apprentice to Trainee and, ultimately, Company I! Junior Company dancers now perform in all company productions without auditioning.

Intermediate-level dancers are leveled by age and skill level. Intermediates have the opportunity to audition for the exciting opportunity to perform with the Company in their annual production of The Nutcracker and Spring Storybook Ballet.

Pre-ballet level dancers are leveled by age. Classes are one day a week for 60 minutes (Pre-Ballet I) or 75 minutes (Pre-Ballet II & III); dancers can take more classes if desired. All Pre-Ballet students perform in the May recital.

GBC Uniforms & Dress Code

Each level of Gainesville Ballet dancer has a uniform that may be purchased through our online vendor. GBC receives a 5% donation from each purchase.
