Dance Classes

GAINESVILLE BALLET is a top quality classical ballet training studio that offers instruction in a variety of dance generes (jazz, hip-hop, tap, and more) in addition to ballet for dancers ages 3 to adult. Please view the Class List below to see all classes offered.

Additional classes may also be added to the schedule throughout the year. Pre-Ballet students can register and will be placed into Pre-Ballet I, II, or III based on their age on September 1st. New dancers to GBC ages 8 and above, may contact the studio regarding which level is most appropriate. Class placement is based on prior training and skill level. All dancers ages 3 to 18 will have the opportunity to participate in the May dance recital.

Adult Ballet Classes are also offered on Saturdays for Beginners and Intermediates. Those who wish to participate can purchase Class Punch Cards through the GBC Portal.

Costume and recital fees apply to Pre-Ballet and Intermediate dancers. Company Fees are for members of the Company (Jr. Company/Apprentice/Trainee/Co I). Tuition applies to all levels (except for drop-in and punch card purchases).

CLASSES

Company I

Company I is the official dance company of the Gainesville Ballet Company and is comprised of its high school dance students, as well as select Brenau University dance majors and professional dancers. In addition to providing a training ground for aspiring dancers, the Company presents well-known performances such as The Nutcracker and an annual storybook ballet.

Trainee

Trainee dancers are newly graduated Apprentices who prepare to become Company I dancers. Classes consist of ballet and pointe technique on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and jazz on Tuesdays. Trainees also have the opportunity to participate in poninte variations and other classes offered during the season. Trainees participate in The Nutcracker and the Spring Storybook Ballet. Through out the year, they will join Company I to perform in various Rep shows and Brenau events.

Apprentice

Apprentice dancers are newly graduated Junior Company dancers. Classes consist of ballet and pointe technique on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and jazz on Tuesdays. Apprentices also have the opportunity to participate in pointe variations and other classes offered during the season and will participate in The Nutcracker and the Spring Storybook Ballet. Through out the year, they will join the Company and perform in various Rep shows and Brenau events.

Junior Company

Junior Company consists of graduated Intermediate III dancers. Their training gets them prepared to join the Company as Apprentices, then Trainees, and ultimately Company I dancers. Junior Company dancers perform in The Nutcracker and the Spring Storybook Ballet along with performing repertoire pieces in the May recital.

Intermediate

Intermediate dancers are leveled by age and skill level. Ballet class is scheduled on Mondays and Thursdays. Jazz in optional for Intermediate I but mandatory for Intermediate II & III. Tap is an optional class for all Intermediate dancers. Intermediate dancers II & III also have the opportunity to participate in The Nutcracker and the Spring Storybook Ballet. Intermediate I dancers must audition first.

Pre-Ballet

Pre-Ballet dancers are leveled by age. Ballet class is one day a week for 60 minutes (Pre-Ballet I) or 75 minutes (Pre-Ballet II & III) but dancers can register for more than 1 class if desired. All Pre-Ballet dancers have the opportunity to participate in the May recital.

DRESS CODE

Gainesville Ballet has a dress code for each level of dancers and may be purchased through our online vendor.
